Leadership Experience

Esports

Between 2018 and 2021, I worked with a handful of Overwatch Esports organizations as both a coach and player. I got the opportunity to compete in multiple national tournaments. I began as a backup player and eventually worked my way up to 'Shot Caller.' In this role, I lead the team during matches by making quick decisions on what strategy to run next and then communicating that clearly to the other players.

After competing as a player for a year, I got invited to be Head Coach for a new Esports organization: Feed the Wolves (now Howl Esports). When I joined, the organization only had one Overwatch team, but today they have grown to 5 teams across 3 different games. As a coach, I was tasked with running tryouts, selecting members, and working with them to create a synergistic team. Furthermore, I was responsible for organizing and running practice sessions and scrimmages with other teams. Through this role, I learned how to handle conflict and drama within a team as well as how to foster an environment where players can grow their skills alongside a dedicated organization.

Theater

I worked as a theater technician throughout the entirety of my time in highschool as well as in community theater while attending university. My highschool troupe, Paradise Valley Theater Company , had over 100 members and put on up to 5 productions per year. I was a part of 15 productions, 11 of which in leadership positions. These positions include: Stage Manager, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, and Set Designer. The designer roles involved creating a design for the technical area and then leading a crew to bring the design to life on stage. I taught the crew the basics of the technical field and then led them through both the implementation and running the show. The image on the left is me with the Set Crew infront of the largest set I have ever designed and built.

As a Stage Manager, I was in charge of coordinating all of the technical designers, stage hands, actors, and the director to ensure all of these separate pieces of the performance came together into one, cohesive show.

In 2019, I was elected to the theater company’s ‘Officer Board’ as the Publicity Head. In this role, I was in charge of managing all of the company’s social media accounts, creating videos for the school announcements, and running company meetings. These meetings were led entirely by the Officer Board where we taught theater skills to all club members. Teaching a large group taught me effective communication as well as how to keep students engaged and interested in the content.

After highschool, I began working with B3 Theater, Inc. I was the Stage Manager for their production of Water for Breakfast which received an excellent review from Gil Benbrook with Talkin' Broadway. In addition to the Stage Manager duties mentioned above, for this role I was in charge of running Zoom rehearsals and coordinating with technicians from both B3 and from our venue host: ASU Kerr Cultural Center.
